T.I.P.S.

Students must be able to figure out how many items are in a group when a set of items is shared equally or how many groups can be made from separating equal sets of items from the total.
Example

Read the following problem situations (word problems) and use paper if necessary.a) Mr. Chirinos likes to put his class of 24 students in groups for certain activities. If he has 6 baskets of materials for the groups to share equally, how many students can he put in each group?b) Mr. Chirinos likes to put his class of 24 students in groups for certain activities. If he wants 3 students to be in each group, how many groups will he make?

TEKS

3.4 Number and operations. The student applies mathematical process standards to develop and use strategies and methods for whole number computations in order to solve problems with efficiency and accuracy. The student is expected to:
(H) determine the number of objects in each group when a set of objects is partitioned into equal shares or a set of objects is shared equally
